Bannon Fine Art
Artwork
Maureen's impressionistic oil paintings are contemporary, with an emphasis on light, loose brushwork. As a naturalist, themes include neighboring gardens, vacation retreats, historical homes, and wetlands and wildlife, as well as macroscipic views of the land. She reveals on canvas the importance of one's immediate environment through color impressions, evoking a timeless atmosphere of serenity...leaving the story to the viewer. Following the example of the 19th century luminist painters, where light is the pronounced feature, she creates her personal impressions of the visual world .
Landscapes
Maureen's oil paintings highlight nature's pastoral spaces and places, which she feels are so necessary for personal and emotional well-being.
"I seek the quiet places to paint - places that speak to me of life stories, subjects that speak to me of serenity, light, past and future life. I favor gardens of all kinds for there is energy in the way flowers live."
Poland
This series is a ten year study of Maureen's roots. She is painting through travel and study those lifelines that have kept Poland and its people growing. The series will travel to Polish communities within the United States. The painting to the right shows a Polish nun walking toward the Church of St. James that the Americans built after World War II.
Windows
Gaze through the windows to enjoy Maureen's painted world beyond. Each "window" is a painting in oil on canvas that has been mounted behind an old wooden window frame with glass included.
